The study's lead author, Frank McMillan, DVM, Director of Well Being Studies for Best Friends Animal Society, elaborated "we can now scientifically confirm how truly destructive these places are for the dogs". Dr. McMillan worked on the study with researchers from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, James Serpell and Deborah Duffy. The study was based on a definition of puppy mill that defined them as "commercial breeding operations..., ... large scale facilities where dogs are confined in small enclosures for their entire lives with little to no exercise or positive human contact-for the sole purpose of mass-producing puppies to sell in retail pet stores and via the Internet."

Hence "Seabiscuit" the tiny Champion.

No matter what country, state, province, or city you live, the factory production of our beloved companion animals affects us all. I have contributed to many charitable organizations in my life, but have never been so compelled by such horrific injustice, that I stand on a public sidewalk with a cardboard sign, spreading awareness to and for my community to bare witness to such horrific crimes of torture perpetrated in secret and silence onvoiceless and helpless living beings. For nothing more than unconscionable greed of the immoral members of society with whom we must be forced to share out community. It can only be out done by the evil of child trafficking. Decent respectable citizens and contributors to society are also doing this... it is not just an American Disgrace. Where there is great love, respect and compassion for our fellow companion animals, as long as they are factory produced as products for sale, and extorted at high cash values solely to prey on our attachment to man's best friend,.. horrific crimes of their torture for profit will be as common to their production industry as most anything else also common to mankind. The Prime Minister of Australia has heard the voice of the tortured Aussie mill dogs, he has adopted one, and the country has changed legislation for crimes of torture against Man's Best Friend. FOSTER GIRL CHIHUAHUA 'BELLA" FROM DEATH ROW SHELTER

(Click Photo) ~ ~ "THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING" ~ MY "BELLA" is one year and a half and rescued in the last minutes of her life. She was dumped in the shelter with her mother. Both shivering with fear and starvation, being too scared to eat, we worked at a furious pace collecting funds to get them out. Unfortunately by the time we had gotten funds together, the shelter had already murdered her mother, leaving 3lb.tiny Bella, terrorized and frozen in fear as her mother was ripped away from her to never return. She spent 2 nights by herself in a cold cement cell with no warmth in shock and frozen. The shelter never gave us a reason they felt the need to kill her mother leaving Bella alone, no extra space was made available, they callously stated "HER TIME WAS UP". I hand fed her for weeks to get her to eat, I had to follow her around the house just to pick her up, as she scattered away, coward with her belly down to the floor. She was scared of humans and everything around her. Although she stuck to me like glue when I held her, it took her days to lift her head and look at me in the eyes. When she finally did, she wouldn't stop staring with a desperate hopeful gaze of "are you for real?" She has bounced back beautifully! Her twinkle has replaced her old vacant and dark dull stare of hopelessness. I call her my little "Pony" as she prances around the house and rears on her hind feet to dance and play. "Bella" the beautiful little warrior for life, is the most playful, funny, and loving little soul.
